The meeting room filled quickly as each member arrived, many of whom brought with them their 8×8 tapestry square to be mounted on an 8×8 painted canvas, in time for the Knitting & Stitching Show at the RDS, starting 7th November to 10th November 2019.
As previously arranged, Tish had purchased the canvases and acrylic paints, which she brought along with paintbrushes, tubs, jars and newspapers. The table resembled a rainbow as canvasses were painted red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple and pink.
While these dried, the tapestries were tied off and made ready for mounting. This was done with adhesive Velcro and a few stitches for ultimate security. In the meantime, Lora chaired the business meeting. The majority of which was given over to plans for the guild’s 40th Anniversary in 2020.
Show & Tell
Lora, Heather and Maureen brought the items they had received in the swap whilst in Kerry. Heather had received a plait of cosmic looking roving, Maureen’s gift was a book and Lora had been given some pretty Tasmanian Merino fibre to spin. All of which was put away before we remembered to take any photos.
We did manage to snap a quick shot of the beautiful felted picture of flowers Bernice had created in a recent workshop.
